{"id":113,"date":"2015-03-20T15:56:27","date_gmt":"2015-03-20T15:56:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/scal-pt-residencyfellowship.kpmultimedia-dev.org\/?page_id=113"},"modified":"2024-09-13T16:19:41","modified_gmt":"2024-09-13T16:19:41","slug":"orthopaedic-physical-therapy-residency-curriculum","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/scal-pt-residencyfellowship.kpmultimedia-dev.org\/?page_id=113","title":{"rendered":"Orthopaedic Physical Therapy Residency"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"content_title\">GENERAL INFORMATION<\/h2>\n<p>Kaiser Permanente, Southern California Region is proud to offer a residency program designed to provide physical therapists with advanced knowledge and skill in a concentrated clinical environment.<\/p>\n<p>The curriculum of this residency program is designed to provide physical therapists with advanced training in examination, clinical decision-making and treatment skills. The small group classroom and lab training sessions and one-on-one clinical supervision allow the clinical faculty to focus their instruction on the individual needs of each resident. This program is recognized by the American Physical Therapy Association as a Credentialed Post-professional Clinical Residency Program.<\/p>\n<p>This residency begins the last Monday in February or March 1st\u00a0 each year and runs for 52 consecutive weeks. The clinical training in this residency program is fulfilled in three ten-hour days per week and the classroom and lab training occurs during 34 weekend days throughout the residency year. Up to thirty residents are accepted to participate in the program each year. The residents are employed and provide patient care at eleven Kaiser Permanente Physical Therapy Clinics \u2013 located in Baldwin Park, Downey, Los Angeles, Ontario, Orange, Panorama City, Riverside, San Diego, South Bay, West Los Angeles, and Woodland Hills. The residents are paid for the hours that they provide patient care at the PT Resident rate (<strong>Dec<\/strong><strong>\u00a02023, the rate is $40.78\/hr with benefits, $48.936\/hr non-benefited<\/strong>). The residents also receive the Kaiser Permanente employee benefits package which includes health, hospital, and disability insurance. class=\"content_title\">CURRICULUM OUTLINE<\/h2>\n<p>Each resident receives:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>1500 hours of clinical practice<\/li>\n<li>288 hours of classroom\/lab instruction<\/li>\n<li>150 hours of 1:1 supervision while treating patients<\/li>\n<li>260 hours of resident-directed learning activities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The content of the classroom, lab, and AND SELECTION PROCESS<\/h2>\n<h3>Prospective Applicants<\/h3>\n<p>All applications for the Kaiser Permanente Southern California Residency and Fellowship Programs will now be submitted using the Recommendation<\/h3>\n<p>Your letters of recommendation will be directly submitted by the author to RF-PTCAS.\u00a0 You will be required to submit contact information regarding your references into RF-PTCAS.\u00a0 The author will be sent a link to electronically access and submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf.\u00a0 Once submitted, the letter will be automatically linked to your Criteria<\/h3>\n<p><strong>The applications will be evaluated based on the following criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee consisting of the Department Administrator(s), Clinical Faculty, and Chiefs of Service of the Kaiser Permanente Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department where your application is submitted and be based on the following
